Hate Crime - Security Next Gen Ideathon

This Equalithon

Beginning on April 04, our community has the opportunity to support the fight against hate crime by mentoring kids in juvenile and at school in El Paso.

Join the Essteem #WeBelong community and Security NextGen to ideate solutions to the following challenges:

  • Help kids in schools & juvenile detention in El Paso outline a solution to address hate crimes. Inspire them, mentor them, guide them over various brainstorming and work sessions.

  • This event is in relation to the El Paso attack in 2019 in a Walmart, which "has been described as the deadliest attack on Latinos in modern American history".

Together, let’s fight for causes with more than just good intentions!

  • We co-organize this Ideathon for students and kids to come up with ideas that can help change how we prevent and respond to hate crime.

    • Over a month, several sessions will be organized and will lead to the production of structured ideas and requirements for solutions against hate crime

    • Our community will vote for the winning team whose idea will be developed later in the year during an Equalithon. In that Equalithon, teams of developers and designers will try and develop a pilot app answering to the requirements produced in this Ideathon.

    • Kids at School and in Juvenile

    • Nonprofits and Communities

    • Organizers (Essteem, Security NextGen)

  • Imagine and build new open source solutions for women of lower income, that can be implemented by real organizations partnering with the event!

Challenges will be determined ASAP with the Episo Foundation.

Then, Equalithon participants will try and build these solutions.

This Equalithon is an opportunity to:

  • address a critical Societal challenge;

  • improve and scale our impact, together!

  • All times are given in US EST (NYC time)

  • Location: entirely remote
